Garlic Croutons
Making croutons is actually pretty simple, and it’s a great way to use up left over bread – as they’ll last weeks as opposed to days. I like to make them to add my own personal touch to a fairly simple salad.
In this video, I make some garlic croutons that I think are awesome with a Caesar salad.
Ingredients for Garlic Croutons
- 2 – 3 cloves of garlic – minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 10 – 15 thin slices of fresh, crusty bread (can’t use the sliced stuff in the plastic bag)
Recipe Overview & Keys to Success
- Make sure you use the right bread – the sliced bread in the package is no good. Day old bread is fine
- Don’t burn the garlic, you can get it a little toasted and brown, but make sure it doesn’t burn
- Check on the croutons once you put them in the oven so they don’t burn
To make garlic croutons
- Slice the bread into your desired size crouton
- Sauté 2 – 3 cloves of minced garlic in a half and half mixture of olive oil and butter until the garlic is just lightly brown
- Toss the bread with the oil and garlic mixture to coat
- Lay the bread on a sheet of foil in a single layer and put them into the oven 275 degrees
- Once the croutons are crunchy remove, let cool and you’re ready to serve
Enjoy!!
